Goings On...

Things are getting all shook over here a bit. One of the things I am most excited about is a trip to Sweden that we are leaving on next week! That really snuck up on me. We are going to celebrate and help out with P's double solo shows at the Wetterling Gallery in Goteborg and Stockholm. I am so thrilled! I haven't been on a real "trip" in a long long time now and am really looking forward to the break. I also wish I wasn't such a shy socially maladjusted blogger, or I would maybe have made internet friends with Camilla and Smosch by now - I keep thinking that maybe I will see them having a fika in Goteborg talking over their illustrations. I wonder if I see them if I will have the guts to say hi? I will have to see I guess...

So this blog will be on a temporary hiatus until around the 20th of March. If I find a way to still post I will - but just to let you know what's up...

Another big thing is that my new website is up and running - Wohoo! I am so glad to have it done! What a relief. I hope it works as well as my last one. I was a little sad to see the old one go but I have had it for just about two years now already and really needed a change. I feel like the new one is looser in a good way and has a lot more breathing room. Anyway - see what you think...

Alright - I will try to squeeze in another post or two before I go - so see you then!

Joni Mitchell is My Hero

(...images from here, here, here, here, here and here...phew!)

There are a few things I have in common with Joni Mitchell which is maybe partly the reason I like her so much. We both grew up in Saskatchewan and lived in Saskatoon, and for one year Joni also went to the Alberta College of Art & Design in Calgary, Alberta. And before I cut my hair short I used to have long blonde hair just like her. In any case, I feel a real affinity towards her and think she is great and an amazingly talented musician, singer, songwriter and "derailed painter" as she calls herself.

Here and here and here are some videos of her playing music and singing - this is a little article about her - and here, here and here are some CBC archived audio and visual recordings...

Now you are set!

Happy Tuesday.

B Book

(...more photos of B Book over here...)

So after numerous revisions - way more than I was expecting of course - B Book is finally out in the world. So that is nice. I have had the idea for awhile now to put together a book with a selection of my three gazillion photographs so I am glad it is finally done and done.

It is meant to be a companion to "A Book" even though it is different in size and content. I am hoping to crank out a "C Book" to wrap the series - so much for my ambition of getting through the whole alphabet! But I think an A, B and C book would be nice. I might make the next book different again in format and maybe have it contain just some little drawings. That would be cool I think. So "A" would be small, pocket-sized, a little collection of flotsam, and the "B" as a photo selection and the "C" drawing and some photoshop tomfoolery. Sound good to me! Maybe I can bundle them all together and give them away as a package. Anyway - ideas, ideas...Oh - and you can get it here (but don't worry - I won't be sad if you don't!)...

I am also still plugging away at revamping my portfolio site. I think it is almost there thank god. And I have a couple more mugs that I think I will show-off pretty soon - I just have to do a few little changes and then get some good photographs.

Thinking about websites - Lena Corwin linked to a really nice and simple site with lots of fun books on it the other day - Marcus Oakley's site. Sorry no original links - next time I promise!!

Va Va Voom!

Learn all your sexy moves from Bridget Bardot (who else??). Hope you are having or had a nice Love day. Even if it was bittersweet or just the boring usual. I got some pretty flowers lucky me. I will try to take a photo for some show and tell next post.

Okay - Bye!

Hmmmm...

Sorry for the slow posts this last week or so! Real life (outside of the computer) seems to be taking over a little bit more than usual these days. There are so many things I need to get off my plate. I hope I can do it all by the end of the month!

This weekend we did a little gallery hop with an old friend I hadn't seen in a long time - so that was really fun. Here are a few pictures above. I will upload more to flickr as soon as I have the chance. These photos were taken at the Marianne Boesky Gallery exhibition "The Masked Portrait", the Zach Feur Gallery and Gagosian Gallery which was hosting the (RED) Art Auction.

I promise I will try to get in a couple more posts before the week is through...

Talk soon!

It is so nice to see this kind of work. Straight up good interesting graphic design. So refreshing even though it is 50 odd years out of date... All images are from here and there looks like there are other interesting things to browse through here...

Happy Thursday in 5 minutes!
