Mug, Mug and a Mug...

(...click here to see the middle part...)

Hello! So I busted out and made three more mugs to add to my little shop...it is really fun to see them in *real life* after staring at them on the computer for so long trying to get them right...! I have about three more or so that I am am tinkering away with - hopefully it will not be too long before I can stock them on my virtual shelves...and then - perhaps on to some tote bags and shirts! Maybe...as long as the bags are the real canvas kind and if the shirts fit right...I will have to do a trial run and see for myself...

Hope you had/are having a good week. I stayed home every night so far and I finally feel like I am crossing some things off my list - so that feels good!

I will try to be back tomorrow or Saturday with some links or something fun...

See you then!

Oh ya - I almost forgot - get this - Urban Outfitters is also making artist edition mugs! I can't believe it. Just when I think I am on to something...jeez. They are dollar more but are definately a bit cheerier than mine! Oh well. The Collective Unconcious gets you every time I guess...

Andy Warhol and the Fabulous Fifties...

(...to see larger go here and here...)

The other weekend the gang and I stumbled across this show of Andy Warhol's commercial work from the Fifties. The drawings and prints are so beautiful! I quickly ran around and took a photo of ALMOST EVERY SINGLE PIECE!!! The picture above was one of my favorites - I like all the different hand-stamped little images together like that - gives me lots of ideas for drawing or maybe making some special wrapping paper...

Here are the photos I snapped - sorry the color is a little wacked - and here are some jpgs from the show that I found on artnet (click on exhibitions)...

Happy Tuesday!

I Am Learning How To Crochet and I Really Like These Pieces By Emily Barletta...

Hello! I hope you had a nice day yesterday - if you had a Thanksgiving holiday - or even if you didn't...I am still feeling stuffed. I had such a great time yesterday and now I am trying to do the "getting stuff done" part of my Thanksgiving holiday...

So - like my title says - my good ladyfriend G has given me my one free crochet lesson (her birthday gift to me this year, plus yarn and hook!). I also found these great crochet pieces by Emily Barletta that I think are so great and are really inspiring - thanks once again to love forever (sorry to keep snatching your links!). Emily also has a blog here.

I really like the kind of free-form nature of these sculptures. I am excited to get a book with some good scarf, hat and mitten patterns, but once I have those figured out I would really like to try some more of this experimental type of crochet. Maybe it could be like another art-making medium, like watercolour or photography...another way to make something come alive I guess...

In any case - I think winter and the Holiday season has finally arrived here. For one thing - it is really cold today - and they have turned on the Christmas lights on our street! Tomorrow I am going to try to snap some last fall colour pictures in the park and then I guess it is time to start thinking about gifts and maybe a few decorations for our little apartment...

Have a nice weekend!

If you are having Thanksgiving today - have a great one!

I Think I Might Have a Problem...

I am turning into such a shutterbug! I really have no control. It took me THREE hours this weekend just to upload 1 cd of photos to flickr. And I have 3 more to go! Good god. I don't know why I make so much work for myself...!

Anyway - here are some Monday links...

...Abby Walton's self-portraits...
...Harsh Patel...
...interviews with Avedon, Tibor, Koolhaas, Zaha Hadid and Philip Johnson via Design Observer...
...books you can download for FREE! (I haven't done it yet - but they look pretty good...) via Print Fetish...
...last days at the New York Times - so kind of sad - thanks to Mr. Love Forever...

Two days closer to Turkey time!!

Hans Christian Andersen Sketchbooks!

(...all images from here...click to enlarge really big...)

Holy Man. I can't believe how great these sketchbooks from H. C. Andersen are! Thanks so much to Camilla Engman for posting the link! She always has such great finds. I hope it is okay to piggyback her a little on this one...Wow.

There are more sketchbooks here (this one is really beautiful too) and more papercuts here and this is where I got all the images above...

It is a gloomy and cold Saturday day here. I prefer my Saturdays sunny and bright but I guess I will have to try to work with this one - maybe multiple cups of tea and an afternoon spent catching up on email and flickr...

Have a nice weekend!
