Eden Veaudry

I stumbled across all this great work by the artist Eden Veaudry yesterday. I think it is really beautiful and interesting and I love how she is able to translate her vision across so many different mediums. Here are some links I found if you would like to know more...

...other personal site (it has the same things but I also like the web design in this one)...

!!!

I heard somewhere that this painting by Elizabeth Peyton is going up in her New Museum exhibition now that the results are in.

So exciting. I am so glad I was here to witness the sea change.

Let's bring on some better times...

Roberta Ridolfi

I like these photographs by Roberta Ridolfi. I couldn't find that much about her on the internet - just that she is a photographer from Rome, based in London since 1999 - (info via this blog). I really love that first image...

Spooked

I can't really think of a Halloween-appropriate post so instead I will just link to these great photos of the artist David Altmejd's studio. And here are some photos I took of his exhibition this spring at Andrea Rosen Gallery. And here is an article from W magazine. AND some footage from the opening of the Canadian Pavilion at the 2007 Venice Biennale.

Alright!! That is it before I carried away. Have a spooky one.

Chris Johanson "Totalities"

(...I especially like those collaged chairs for some reason...)

I really liked this exhibition Totalities by the artist Chris Johanson that I saw at Deitch Projects earlier this Fall. Johanson and his partner Jo Jackson are really inspiring for me. Back in this September post I linked to a lecture they gave at the Walker Center. It made me like them even more. One day I will try to do a more elaborate post on them but for now here are some links just about this particular show.

...artist site...
...wiki...
...some more photos and a video on my flickr...
...an article in the Village Voice...
...a youtube video of the opening (with a voice over - be warned)...

Iggy Pop

I am kind of fascinated with Iggy Pop at the moment. I think it is his incredible amount of raw energy. And aside from a few kind of ummmm....iggy-isms - he is totally articulate and weirdly charming in this documentary. I really believe that he did feel like he had something to give people - even if it wasn't done in the most conventional way. I also like the way he explained that his decision to make music and be a performer was a way to carve out his own future instead of falling into the the middle-class trap that the American Dream had set up for him. Not many people are so aware of their own fishbowl...

...here are a bunch of photos on my tumblr
(Mon. Oct 27)...
...and here are some great youtube videos (Sun. Oct 26)...
