Last Post of the Year!

Well - it's finally here! I am so ready to start eating and relaxing and spending some time with the family. I hope that if you are celebrating the holiday you can do some of that too. I have been dredging through youtube for the last half hour (did you know anything about this phenomenon??? Yikes!), trying to find an appropriate video and came up with this short and sweet little gem.

Anyways - wishing you all the best out there - and see you in the New Year!

Bye!

Sleigh Bells Ring...(We Bought a Heater)

A few photos of this weekend - on Sunday we bought a heater and now I am feeling all back to normal - phew!

I have only one Holiday themed link today - it is pretty cute with a bit of a ridiculous voice-over - so here you go - Christmas In Sweden 1955. (I love youtube).

I also got my Christmas cards all done yesterday - what a relief. P took them to the postoffice today and they should all get to their destinations just in time...I didn't think I would make it this year so I am really happy they got done!

I am counting down the days to the break - 4 more - Almost there...

My Apartment Has No Heat and I Am Freezing In Here PLUS Some Polaroids...

(...over here for more...)

Hello. I'm not kidding - I'm freezing! My nose is ice cold. Hmmm...I am going to have to figure something out. Even our shower has only been giving out lukewarm water all week! God. I might start making a little bonfire out of some old magazines or something...(just kidding).

ANYWAY. Some videos:

...Art and Unrest in the East Village...
...Hirst's shark and Kara Walker's creeps (scroll down)...
...are you an industrial design nerd like me? Maybe you will find this interesting (where these beauties were exhibited)...
...this is pretty cool too! And this...
...this looks interesting for longer viewing. especially since Control is in the theatres now...

Alright. Time to leave the house and warm up for a bit!

Bye!

Ingmar Bergman's Movie Summer With Monica

(...all images from here...)

P and I went to see Summer With Monica by Ingmar Bergman the other day. What a beautiful and kind of sad movie...it is all about a young couple in love who escape their mindless day jobs and run away together to live in the Swedish countryside all summer long. Bergman wrote the movie specifically for Harriet Andersson who he was invloved with at the time. She was great in it - a real hearthrob...

I am feeling tired today - I really can't wait for the holiday! I finally got to my Christmas cards last night - I'll have to show some pics of that sometime soon...

Hope your week is going okay...be back again soon!

I Think This Book Illustrated by Yoshie Watanabe is Really Beautiful...

(...all images from here...)

I saw this book in this bookstore the other day and it looks so great! I didn't buy it what with being busy trying to save some pennies for OTHER people's gifts, but maybe somewhere along the line I can justify getting it for myself. The drawings are so delicate - this last one - with the black lace - is incredible!

Here are some other things made by Yoshie Watanabe (make sure you check out those cool flower vases!) and here is her design company...

Speaking of beautiful illustrators - I came across some of Julie Morstad 's beautiful drawings in this chichi little magazine (Vol.23 - you can preview the back issue and see some!)...

I Think I May Have Hit YouTube Gold...

Sorry to be away for a few days! This week vanished without a trace and I didn't get done half the things I wanted to do...I have a feeling next week might be the same. So here I am, home on a Saturday night trying to catch up...

Some long awaited links:

...Bardot and Serge at it again watch it here...
...I really love these little illustrations link via ah-yi...
...someone else who loves polaroids (check the sets too!)...
...I thought this was such a great idea for how to show a clothing collection online. Wow! Thanks to simply photo for the link...
...I've got mugs on the brain - here and here (go to "products" and "new 2007" and the third row down has a tiny tiny picture of mugs to click on)...
...if you are into this sort of thing - I went to see this exhibition many, many months ago and kept meaning to tell you about it...

Phew. I have almost exhausted my backlog on this one. Better save some for later!

Hope you are having a nice weekend and are starting to get into the spirit a little - don't wear yourself out!

A Fun Day in Neuva York City

Oh Man. I really needed that...a super fun day spent roaming around Brooklyn and Manhattan reminded me of why we decied to come here in the first place. Lately I have had trouble remembering!

So P and I had a lazy lunch of pierogies and borscht
, took a little trip to his studio to check things out, went to see some galleries in Chelsea quickly before they closed, dropped by GIFTLAND VIII: THE REVENGE OF GIFTLAND at Printed Matter bookstore (the link seems to be a bit out of commission so here is their myspace page), and THEN went to see this great documentary (holy cow I just found the whole movie on youtube - yikes!!) - and lastly we ended up at the New Museum for the free for 30 hours event - not bad hey?? I can do about one marathon day like that a month so I should be set now for a couple of weeks!

Some of my favorite pieces in the exhibition was work by Matthew Monahan (go here and here and here), Elliot Hundley (here and here) and Manfred Pernice (here)...check them out if you are interested!

I am also still dying to see this...maybe this week...

Hope you have a good one. Talk soon!
